Rhonda, Construction Worker

This is my submission for the 1A portion for the Optional Art Challenge that Gravidtron recently started up on his website. I for one think it's an awesome idea, hearkening me back to the days of daily/weekly art challenges back on the yahoo groups in my early years as an artist. Plus it's just plain good fun, so I really couldn't resist.

This particular challenge was to draw a pregnant lass in a typically masculine line of work. Of course the first image to jump to my mind was "Lumberjack" (specifically a lumberjack downing Jacarandas {hates them we do!}) but right away that sounded a little too easy. Same with Cop and Firefighter (plus those are rapidly becoming gender neutral jobs.) But at last, I knew what I had to do: I had to draw a Construction worker! And so I did, and named her Rhonda.

I can't help it. I know the challenge didn't call for full character creation, but I'm so used to it by now, it just sort of happens all on its own. ^^'''

Rhonda Woczinski is a spunky and spry lass from the Bronx with a love for getting her hands dirty. As a child she would often spend her free time building dirt castles (not much sand in the Bronx), so it was no surprise that when she grew up that she went into the family construction business. Even eminent motherhood hasn't slowed Rhonda down one bit; if anything she has even more energy and enthusiasm than ever! Though be careful with the "Wide load, coming through" jokes...you don't lug around I-beams and lumber around all day with nothing to show for it. ^_~


Anyways, I hope you all enjoy. I know I certainly had fun drawing a new character. And there's something about a pregnant womanl in overalls that is just too cute and sexy...
