Tabitha: Genetic Hybrid

New twist on a familiar theme. ^_~

While the idea for this drawing is mainly my own, I probably would never have worked up the courage to actually draw it if I hadn't shared it with someone over an IM message, who then strangly encouraged me to put it "on paper", so to speak.

Here's the basic idea: a biology professor I once had posed the idea of human beings with photosynthetic skin cells. Green skin aside, they could just go outside get some sunshine, and use that energy to suplement their diet. At the time I took the idea one step further and thought, instead of skin, what about photosynthetic hair: green hair is slightly less wierd looking that greenish skin, unless you live in a highly conservative-minded community.

A few years later, thinking back on the idea, I took it still another step further:
Instead of your typical blueberry girl who's just full of juice...what about an actual genetic hybrid of berry and girl: A literal berry-girl so to speak.

Weird, you might say? That's pretty much what I concluded at the time, but the idea stuck with me, and I started to elaborate more and more on the idea. In the end, it started to take shape in your typical science-fiction/mad science type of plot (influenced by a lot of my favorite inflation stories too, no doubt) of a girl, Tabitha, who undergoes the genetic "berrification" process.

As of now, this is about as far as I've taken the idea, though the few people I've shared this idea with have made it clear that they'd like to see this taken further (hence that little bit of foreshadowing with "Stage 2" and all. ^_~). I haven't decided what stage 2 will be, nor have I decided yet whether or not I want to open it up to suggestions either. Also, since I DID mention the word "plot", yes, I have thought of exploring a possible storyline with this topic. At the moment, I don't really have the time to write such a story by myself. If anyone wants to write a story under this premise...well...I don't think I could really stop anyone if they really wanted too. ^_~ I guess if anyone is interested in getting some ideas from me, you can send me a private message and we can discuss it. Otherwise, I'm not going to get all up-in-arms if somebody wants to use this idea: as a general rule, I really don't mind what people do with my ideas, so long as they are at least respectful enough to give credit where credit is due. Although for Tabitha is specific, since I've kinda become attached to her (like I do with all of my original characters), I would strongly prefer for people to talk to me first before using her for anything. I dunno, maybe that won't be a problem, but I never know what to expect...

On a purely technical note, this is the first full-on drawing I've completed since before summer....it's good to be back up to speed again. ^_~ More to come eventually...I hope. In the meantime enjoy, and let me know what you think....feedback is golden. ^_^ Thank you!
